There are two not-so-obvious universal languages spoken on the planet. It’s not English or Spanish, it’s music and math…but I sucked at math, so let’s stick to music. Two of my daughters dig music. From band camps to acting classes to chorus to music lessons to piano to flute to you name it, it’s going on in my house.
I am fascinated by it and terrified by it at the same time because I am not musically inclined, at all, but listening in at the lessons or the singing around the house has given me a front-seat view at what developing an artistic talent looks like…and it is hard.
But we can all do it…some better than others, but we can all still learn music, and we’ve all learned math to some degree, depending on your skills in school.
My point is, since we can all learn math and music, we can all learn how to do things around the house just as easily. Sometimes out of necessity, sometimes just to be a weekend warrior.
That’s where you come in…
To get at the most number of people, in all stages of the buying cycle, make your marketing about teaching. Teaching gives you the chance to be everywhere, have your name out there and not come off like some cheap vinyl siding salesman.
Instagram has a minute video clip allotment, this means you can do a home improvement minute instead of showing your community another job site video.
Facebook has live video so when something interesting comes up on the job site, shoot live and save the video for later.
Twitter lets you post vids, and of course, there is YouTube.
There are plenty of places for you to get your video on, you just have to make sure you are doing it right, and by right I mean teaching your community how to sing, not just scream from the rooftops how great you are. I’ve spent years doing for you at DarrenSlaughter.com, and I’ve done the teaching too. In fact, I’m so all in on the teaching, that that’s why I started the consulting thing in a big way. So, if you need a construction marketing consultant, you know where to find one!
